Familiar Wife is off to a strong start after dominating viewership ratings by its first episode aired in Korea last night. It took the first place across all channels, including pay TV, IPTV and public broadcast networks, during the same timeslot, with rating peaks at 6.0% among male and female aged 20-49. With a glance of the success in Korea, the premiere in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia creates much anticipation for Korean drama lovers across Southeast Asia.
The first episode of this romantic comedy describes the changes of the couple in their five-year marriage. When Cha Joo-hyuk (Ji Sung池晟) bumped into his first love Hae-won (Gang Han-na姜汉娜), he is drowned in his bittersweet reminiscence. With his wife Seo Woo-jin (Han Ji-min韩志旼) who used to be a sweet lovely girl he fell for from head-to-toe, got gradually eaten up by life, changing into a tough “working mum”, Joo-hyuk is now facing a crossroad. At this critical moment, an unexpected incident gives Joo-hyuk the ability to move back and forth from his past. Will he be able to salvage the marriage? Stay tuned to find out.
